as an ehs specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and environmentally sustainable workplace. You will identify, reduce, and control occupational health and safety risks while ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental and safety regulations. Your expertise will guide the organization toward a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and sustainability.
our team:
you will be part of the pcba division, reporting to the eh&s coordinator, and working closely with various teams across the organization. Together, we aim to foster a zero-incident work environment, implement effective safety and environmental practices, and ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements.
what you will do:
* identify, assess, and mitigate workplace safety and occupational health risks.
* ensure compliance with legal and corporate environmental, health, and safety (ehs) requirements to achieve zero non-compliance sanctions.
* collaborate with service medical personnel, construction ehs coordinators, and security staff to interpret and apply legal and corporate guidelines.
* oversee the implementation, certification, and monitoring of iso14001:2015 and iso45001:2018 management systems.
* support customer and governmental audits, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
* conduct safety gemba walks, identify risks, and follow up on corrective actions.
* plan and deliver ehs training, including emergency response, safety policies, and best practices.
* partner with teams to improve equipment and machinery designs with a focus on safety and environmental standards.
* drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles and behavior-based safety tools such as 5s, kaizen, and bbs.
who you are (basic qualifications):
* bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, industrial engineering, environmental systems, or a related field.
* 3-5 years of experience in ehs roles within industrial plants, including managing safety, hygiene, and environmental programs.
* expertise in mexican environmental and occupational health and safety regulations (semarnat, semadet, stps, conagua, etc.).
* strong knowledge and experience with iso14001:2015 and iso45001:2018 systems.
* fluent in english (minimum 90% proficiency – written and spoken).
what will put you ahead:
* certification as an internal and lead auditor for iso9001:2015, iso14001:2015, and iso45001:2018 (iatf16949 and iso13485 are a plus).
* governmental certifications in self-management systems, such as clean industry and voluntary environmental compliance.
* registered as an external instructor for safety and hygiene under stps.
* proficient use of corporate and governmental reporting tools like siaat, sirce, declaralab, passt, and enablon.
* experience with lean manufacturing tools (e.g., 5s, kaizen, gemba, vsm, tpm).
* advanced knowledge of safety codes, including loto, confined spaces, work at heights, and contractor management.
