Overview
we’re looking for a concept artist to help shape the visual future of brookhaven — one of the largest and most beloved experiences on roblox.
responsibilities
* develop high-quality concept art for environments, props, characters, and in-game mockups.
* help define and uphold the visual style of brookhaven across all elements, including ui, environments, props, and characters.
* interpret the project’s creative vision, contribute to art direction, and bring forward new ideas and explorations.
* create and maintain a living visual style guide, ensuring alignment and clear communication with stakeholders on design decisions.
* produce concepts that translate effectively into game-ready assets and support scalable, franchiseable content.
* build a strong understanding of the game’s universe and technical constraints to inform design decisions.
* partner closely with 3d artists to provide paint‑overs and iterate on assets, refining and elevating final visual quality and initial direction.
qualifications
* a strong portfolio showcasing concept art across environments, props, characters, and location development.
* professional experience in a creative field, or equivalent freelance/personal project work.
* proficiency in photoshop, illustrator, or similar tools.
* a deep appreciation for brookhaven’s art style, with the ability to execute consistently within its visual direction.
* experience balancing artistic vision with technical constraints, ensuring concepts translate effectively into gameplay‑ready assets.
* skilled in creating iterative concept packages (e.g., mood boards, callout sheets, paint‑overs) that support downstream asset creation.
* strong creative instincts, with the ability to elevate assets while respecting established direction.
* a versatile concepting skill set, with ability to produce a wide range of asset types quickly (e.g., characters, iconography, pois, props).
nice to have
* experience working across both game and franchise/ip‑driven concept art.
* cross‑disciplinary understanding of design, ux, or gameplay systems to align visuals with function.
* familiarity with roblox as a platform — either as a creator or an active player with a strong understanding of its ecosystem.
* experience with 3d concepting tools (e.g., blender, maya, etc.).
* working knowledge of roblox studio.
location
* remote / timezone: est or pst working hours required.
* travel: 2‑3×/year (rdc + team meet‑ups).
