the position
the plant manager for the chihuahua manufacturing facility is responsible for all activities of each function. Will lead and direct all production departments as well as support functions, which may include manufacturing engineering, production planning & scheduling, purchasing, materials management, facility is, building services, quality, human resources, and plant finance. This is the top management position at the chihuahua facility, responsible for daily order fulfillment, eh&s, quality, and continuous improvement activities, all aimed at achieving customer satisfaction as measured by company metrics. The position reports to the director of operations based in the usa.
the facility covers over 130,000 sq ft, employs more than 500 employees, supports three or more major manufacturing processes, and includes npd/i processes within the factory.
the plant manager has the authority to stop machines and equipment that are not operating according to standards and that may cause defects or unsafe conditions. Must adhere to the company’s environmental policies and procedures in all duties.
the position
the operations manager will oversee the overall performance of the chihuahua manufacturing facility, including production, engineering, quality, eh&s, and continuous improvement. The role focuses on operational excellence, efficiency, compliance, customer satisfaction, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture.
this role involves implementing a proactive environmental health & safety approach, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Emphasis is placed on employee safety, 5s, behavior-based safety programs, monitored through scorecards and audits with corrective actions as needed.
the operations manager is accountable for the plant’s quality system, overseeing defect control, audits, and compliance with iso/ts/as standards, providing updates to leadership. Ensuring delivery performance and customer satisfaction is also key, requiring goal setting, monitoring, and maintaining strong supply chain relationships to meet quality, delivery, and cost targets.
asset management, including inventory, purchasing, and capital equipment, is critical. The role ensures assets are maintained and utilized effectively. Driving productivity through lean, six sigma, and continuous improvement tools is essential for operational excellence.
the operations manager supports engineering functions by justifying capital projects, implementing cost reductions, and overseeing npi and technology transfers, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery. Strong leadership to develop and motivate teams, balancing tactical and strategic focus, is vital for long-term growth.
the candidate
1. bs in engineering or equivalent; mba preferred.
2. lean and continuous improvement experience.
3. iatf 16949 manufacturing experience required.
4. excellent communication and negotiation skills.
5. 10+ years manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years as plant manager, sr operations manager, or similar.
6. knowledge of cost accounting and financial skills.
7. experience with multinational companies and low volume, high mix manufacturing environments.
8. familiarity with chihuahua is preferred.
9. strong tactical and strategic skills, transparent, fast-paced, collaborative leader with consensus-building skills, results-driven team player.
10. fluent in english (85%+) and spanish.
