we are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of engineering specialist, this role is accountable for delivering service availability through infrastructure availability and manage engineering operational risk and provide input into relevant risk database.
principal accountabilities:
- key project contact for on site specialist engineering activities including mainframe infrastructure upgrades
- deliver energy saving initiatives in line with the energy strategy
- meet expectations of internal customers through delivery of high quality projects, meeting their needs and demonstrating the added value of service provided
- continual improvement of reporting and procedures to enable project managers and customers to focus on critical path deliverables and measure success.
- ensure the integrity of the engineering technical library and online repository
- ensure planned preventative maintenance procidures and objectives are met and reported.
- maintain the integrity of services within the data centre environment to ensure that the infrastructure capacities are maintained and upgraded in line with it growth as required.
- maintain oversight for a diverse range of complex engineering systems utilising third party engineering support, where the highest level of service to the bank must be maintained at all times.
- providing leadership, motivation and guidance during the delivery of infrastructure projects
- continuous development, implementation and review of engineering standards and procedures within the department.
key requierements for the role:
- must be m&e qualified and needs to have acquired a range of technical experience from a proven track record within an it critical environment
- excellent technical and analytical skills
- must have health and safety awareness and be trained to a recognized industry standard
- ability to manage and resolve critical situations without reference
- an understanding of the end to end service view of data centre m&e infrastructure
- excellent organisational skills
- commitment/flexibility to changing demands
- effective written and verbal communication skills
