description
this position is responsible for project design definition, planning, budgeting, sourcing materials and working with roadmasters to ensure timely design and execution of projects.
accountabilities
* responsible to follow up within our organization to make sure project have necessary permits and licensing for cpkcm engineering projects.
* responsible to review design to ensure project design is complete and meets cpkcm standards.
* prepares preliminary budgets and feasibility studies to develop railroad projects in mexico.
* coordinates and constructs assigned cpkcm projects and is responsible to ensure schedules are set for timely execution, materials and resources are in place to complete projects, and quality construction standards and specifications set by cpkc and governing bodies are met.
* this position manages the budget and departmental operations to ensure construction projects are completed on target.
* generates project schedule and prepares progress reports.
* demonstrates operational excellence by knowing and applying the business requirements. Demonstrates customer focus and contingency planning to ensure stakeholder expectations are met.
* understands the relevant business metrics and applies effective tactics to sustain a culture of operational effectiveness that produces teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders.
* manages contractors to build projects and defines clear expectations to obtain the desired results.

ideal candidate qualifications
* bilingual.
* bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study.
* minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* previous kansas city southern experience.
working conditions
* shift work is an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support critically important railroad operations 24 hours per day/7 days per week, working various shifts as assigned. Schedule assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays.
