The selected candidate will lead this entire initiative for two key applications "recovery" and "checkout" that currently have no automation. They will be responsible for the strategy, tool selection (leaning heavily towards playwright with python ), framework architecture, and initial implementation. This role requires a true senior-level expert who is autonomous, strategic, and has proven experience creating frameworks, not just writing tests within existing ones. Role & responsibilities this is a greenfield project, and the candidate will be the primary driver of the new automation strategy. Framework architecture & development: design, build, and implement a scalable and maintainable test automation framework from scratch, likely using playwright and python. Strategic leadership: assess the current team's technical skills and the application's needs to define the overall test automation strategy. Be the "forerunner" of this initiative. Ci/cd integration: work closely with the devops team to integrate the new automation suite into the ci/cd pipeline to enable continuous testing. Test case automation: write the initial set of automated tests (ui, api, etc.) for the "recovery" and "checkout" applications to establish coverage. Autonomous project management: work independently to plan and execute the framework build-out, providing regular progress updates to leadership. Technical stack & experience (keywords for sourcing) must-haves: core skill: proven, hands‑on experience building test automation frameworks from scratch. This is the most critical requirement. Automation tools: strong experience with modern, open‑source automation tools. Playwright is the preferred tool; selenium experience is also highly relevant. Programming language: proficiency in python is strongly preferred for writing automation scripts. Devops: solid understanding and practical experience with ci/cd pipelines and concepts. Testing expertise: deep knowledge of automation best practices across different test types (e2e, api, etc.). Nice-to-haves: experience migrating a team from a managed service (like rainforest) or manual testing to a new in‑house automation solution.
