the opportunity
we are seeking a manager of planning, schedule and progress to who has knowledge and experience in providing detailed capital project cost support, including trending, variance analysis, forecasting of the project, and tracking of approved changes to ensure monitoring and controlling of the project budget.
working closely and reporting to the project controls lead and cost, management of change, and risk manager, you will be responsible for the management of information, development and oversight of the scope specific cost report.
you will support the day to day management of clerks, and ensure standardized cost methods are utilized and implemented.
what you'll do
- provides leadership to project controls, scheduling, reporting, risk, and progress, productivity and probabilistic analysis.
- hire and appropriately resource a team of professional schedulers and planners to support the onshore and offshore scope of the sgp project
- provides ad hoc reporting and presentation for various groups/senior management
- oversees progress measurement, earned value, and project schedule forecast
- oversees the management of primavera p6 and tilos schedules
- hosts weekly project schedule meeting with senior project leadership team
- reviews/analyzes and provides direction to reporting developed by the project team
- lead the team of planners and schedulers to optimize and scenario plan project schedule
- ensures that function areas in project controls follow project delivery standards processes and procedures and ensures consistency
- approves:
- data submitted for weekly & monthly reporting
- project cost & schedule information in supply chain management decision summaries
- weekly project schedule update
- recruits, trains and coordinates staff assignments and implements work procedures for these function groups, including staff development, growth and performance
- collaborating with the pms/directors to ensure the necessary project controls support is provided in achieving project objectives
- ensures that the commitments of the groups are fulfilled; including the implementation and continual improvement of standards, policies and procedures
- supports the various project committees (setting meetings, participating in meetings and producing minutes of meetings)
- co-ordinate's charge-in support from the technical centre groups such as estimating and risk analysis
- provides direction and input for implementation of project tools such as pims as well as ensuring tool effectiveness through ongoing assessment
minimum qualifications
- post-secondary degree in a related field
- * years of direct project controls experience on large projects
- considerable knowledge of cost controlling methods and outputs; risk analysis, scheduling, and progress, and reporting.
- knowledgeable and experienced with cost engineering principles and methods including budgeting and forecasting, change management, management systems/procedures, cost and work breakdown structures, earned value systems and contingency management
- knowledge and experience with project and portfolio management processes, policies and principles
preferred qualifications
- experience with sap and omega pims
- written, verbal, presentation and electronic communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of the project controls and project management organization effectively
- ability to analyze project cost data/status and to communicate those findings to project management
- ability to lead direct reports and by influence in a large organization
