Under minimum supervision the purchasing specialist is responsible for a broad base of purchasing. Responsible to support manufacturing and other disciplines by procuring raw materials, equipment, oem parts, tooling, and services while achieving targeted inventory and cost objectives. Additionally, the role is responsible to identify opportunities and to develop an action plan to localize materials where beneficial.
responsibilities
* · responsible forissuing purchase orders for non-mro materials and mro suppliers to approved suppliers.
* · ensures purchaseorders are maintained and tracked in erp with accurate price and delivery,communicates any impacts/constraints of delays to key stakeholders.
* · assures thatproblems relating to delivery, quality or pricing are promptly conveyed tosuppliers and resolved in a timely manner, escalating to leadership for supportwhen appropriate.
* · establish andreview mrp runs to ensure materials are available prior to scheduled productionstart dates.
* · maintainspurchasing related master data in erp, including updating standard pricing,setting max/min levels, reorder points, etc.
* · implementsappropriate material stocking programs in support of overall businessstrategies, customer requirements and production plans, while minimizing excessand obsolete inventory.
* · coordinate andmonitor the supply of consumables to production locations and identify highconsumption to support material cost reduction programs.
* · takes an ownermindset and constantly negotiates price and delivery. Drive cost reductioninitiatives through supplier negotiation, dual sourcing, and supplierlocalization.
* · report onshortages, spend metrics, supplier risk management, and supplierperformance.
* · may leadprojects to optimize sourcing & purchasing function as assigned.
* · responds timelyto all requests.
qualifications
* ·bachelor’sdegree in supply chain management, operations, business, industrialengineering, or other related field.
* ·minimumof 5 years sourcing and/or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
* ·experienceworking with an enterprise resource planning (erp) system required.
* ·priorexperience implementing inventory strategies such as kanban and reorder pointpreferred.
* · prior experience consolidating indirect spend and implementing vendor managed inventory preferred
