Position description: supplier quality engineer (sqe)location: toluca, mexicoreports to: senior quality managermust be bilingual: spanish and englishspecify the dollar size and/or impact of this position:direct impact on customer satisfaction, supplier quality, and optimized cost position.major contributor to csi overall strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier managementdoes this position directly supervise other associates? No general function and primary objective(s): the quality engineer is responsible for the quality performance of csi. Detailed, proactive evaluation and assessment of various materials and components of a common nature requiring substantial experience in basic engineering, contracting, quality control & assurance processes, policies and procedures. Essential duties and responsibilities:the following includes but is not limited to the duties and responsibilities listed below. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary to support csi goals and objectives for the region.normally work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week with a reasonable amount of overtime. Overtime and/or in-country travel will be frequent due to urgent customer service and supplier requirements.routinely spend time at partner factories building relationships, inspecting parts, auditing processes and expediting deliveries. Must be a subject matter expert (sme) in metal products, manufacturing processes, quality documents, and supplier relations as they pertain to the following:apaqqaipipqcppap8d analysis/capaquality measurement instrumentverification and inspection of parts from supplier, where necessary and feasible. (both in process and final) assist and provide guidance to supply base with ppap preparation and documentation including cpk, control plan, fmea and gage r&r per apqp standards.assist and provide guidance to supply base by creating qaip for critical dimensions defined by csi and customer. Qaip is developed for all products.work with customers and suppliers on all technical and engineering issues- interface with account and quality managers.perform production reviews on all new products. This includes interfacing with the customer and csi qe teams located around the worldreview all inspection reports – from suppliers, from csi employees, from third parties.perform supplier process audits per iso9001:2015 schedule.assist in all purchased part approval activities with internal csi team and global supply base.pays close attention to ctq parameters within an inspection process. Takes into account where and how the part is used. Drive 8d/scar initiation through to closure for all suppliers.able to utilize the most efficient and best practices to achieve the best outcomes.able to react and adjust if onsite situation deviates from written inspection plan.adjust inspection criteria and approaches depending on manufacturing process and associated risks.develop thorough quality assurance criteria based on critical dimensions and requirements from the prints and consistency with the samples.able to perform detailed root cause analysis (8d analysis) and complete documentation in case of product failure.able to work closely with the csi quality team to manage supplier quality to ensure compliance with csi and/or customer requirements.support the organization in the formulation of quality related principles, policies and practices.participate in cross-functional meetings with production, oe, sales and procurement personnel. Assist diagnosis, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation strategies.comply with all company policies and procedures in all matters including but not limited to retaining confidentiality of sources, methods, products, etc.lead and update open order reports by supplier. Including details on shipments that may be late.assure on time delivery is met.research and locate new suppliers in various geographic regions, audit per csi supplier assessment.problem solve and continuously strive to improve csi internal processes to better support our customers’ needs.knowledge, skills, and abilities:university degree in mechanical engineering or work experience equivalent.able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Is able to efficiently work under pressure, within deadlines, or other time-essential constraints.must be able to perform basic math calculations i.e. add, subtract, multiply and divide.must have knowledge of special manufacturing processes such as but not limited to: mechanical assembly, machining, casting, welding, heat-treatment, injection-molding, polishing, and painting. Must have excellent customer and vendor relations skills and experience.microsoft office suite experience: excel, word, outlookmust be able to demonstrate analytical skills, general business acumen, strategic thinking, learning agility, as well as a passion for continuous improvement.must demonstrate a spirit of teamwork with cross-functional teams focused on supplier development and supplier selection.possess a strong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing organization.willingness to travel at least 5% annually to support csi business needs.must demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with essential job functions.must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standards exist. Must be capable of completing detailed root cause analysis.must be able to interpret oral, written and diagram instructions.work environment:standard office and manufacturing environment.
