we’re looking for an accomplished user-experience leader who can own every phase of ux from discovery research through validated prototypes while orchestrating delivery with adjacent engineering pods (ui/front-end, api, data, and ai).
remote within u.s.–friendly time zones is preferred.
requirements
* 8+ years of experience with end-to-end ux design, 3+ years of experience in a senior/lead capacity, driving research, prototyping, and validated design for complex web apps.
* proven delivery of at least two products in regulated or data-sensitive domains (life-sciences, health-tech, fintech, etc.).
* understanding of user-centered design methods, heuristic evaluation, and evidence-based iteration.
* solid knowledge of modern design/prototyping tools (figma preferred) and design-system thinking.
* working knowledge of accessibility standards (wcag 2.2 aa) and inclusive design.
* be comfortable operating in agile or scrum environments.
* outstanding communication skills—able to translate user pain points into crisp requirements and influence executives, domain experts, and engineers alike.
responsibilities
* plan and run contextual inquiries, interviews, and rapid ethnography with 10 clinical-regulatory smes.
* analyze findings into personas, journey maps, task flows, and problem statements.
* define ux success metrics and measurable hypotheses.
* create information architecture, interaction flows, and low- and high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes (using figma, sketch, or xd).
* ensure designs minimize cognitive load for expert users handling sensitive content.
* validate concepts through moderated and unmoderated usability tests, as well as rapid iterations.
* provide wcag 2.2 aa accessibility from day one (contrast, keyboard nav, screen-reader semantics).
* partner with compliance and quality teams to ensure adherence to 21 cfr part 11 spirit and branding guidelines.
* design intuitive micro-interactions for rating answers, flagging hallucinations, and submitting clarifications.
* define data schemas and ux events that feed model-training pipelines (in collaboration with data/ai engineers, solution architect, and information architect).
* champion user-centered design within the program, facilitating design-thinking workshops and crits.
* mentor junior designers or contractors if added to the pod.
nice to have
* experience designing feedback loops or human-in-the-loop (hitl) systems for ml/llm products (prompt evaluation, rlhf, etc.).
* familiarity with clinical-regulatory workflows and compliance frameworks (gxp, 21 cfr part 11).
* exposure to ai-driven content moderation, explainability, or data-visualization patterns.
* knowledge of enterprise design-system governance (tokens, component libraries, accessibility audits).
* experience facilitating a/b or multivariate testing to optimize expert-workflow uis.
