role
this role focuses on the design, development, configuration, and support of servicenow platform solutions that enable efficient service delivery and automation across the organization. The junior servicenow developer contributes to the implementation of platform capabilities under guidance, applying standard development patterns, security controls, and governance practices to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
working within an agile delivery model, this role supports continuous improvement initiatives by translating defined requirements into functional servicenow configurations and scripts. The individual is expected to develop a solid understanding of the now platform, including scripting, integrations, and workflow automation, while building technical expertise through hands-on delivery and collaboration with senior developers and architects.
attention to detail, willingness to learn, and strong collaboration skills are essential, as this role partners with cross-functional stakeholders to support platform enhancements and operational stability.
the junior servicenow developer plays a key role in maintaining code quality, documentation, and post-deployment support, ensuring that delivered solutions are reliable, secure, and aligned with organizational standards and user needs.
responsibilities
* configure scoped applications and core platform features following best-practice patterns, security controls, and governance standards.
* build and maintain integrations with enterprise systems using rest/soap apis, mid server, and integrationhub spokes, ensuring secure and reliable data exchange.
* develop automation and orchestration solutions such as flows, workflows, business rules, script includes, ui policies, and catalog items to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
* create and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, build notes, update sets, integration specifications, and deployment or runbooks.
* provide post-deployment support by troubleshooting issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing enhancements based on user feedback.
* maintain code quality through peer reviews, adherence to servicenow sdlc practices, and alignment with release and deployment standards.
* collaborate with senior developers, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into implementable user stories and delivery estimates.
* contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing across the servicenow platform team.
* research and evaluate emerging servicenow capabilities (e.g., virtual agent, ai search, now assist where applicable) and support recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* act with integrity and professionalism to support a respectful, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
qualifications
* servicenow platform development fundamentals
* 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in servicenow development or platform configuration
* business rules, script includes, client scripts
* ui policies and service catalog development
* flow designer and basic automation
* rest / soap integrations (basic patterns)
* integrationhub and mid server (working knowledge)
* servicenow csa certification
* additional servicenow certifications (implementation specialist, micro-certs)
