this role is marketed towards remote individuals from latin america. This region is targeted due to time zone alignment. The compensation offered above is intended to be competitive and attractive to these markets in a 40-hour/week capacity. role overview
meier concrete, inc. is a structural concrete subcontractor based in southern california, specializing in multifamily, podium, and structural concrete construction (including suspended slabs and shear walls).
we are growing and looking to bring on a senior accountant to take ownership of our accounting operations and support project-driven financial management across the company.
this role will work directly with leadership and play a key part in managing the financial side of active construction projects, ensuring accuracy in reporting, billing, and cash flow.
this position is responsible for managing the full financial lifecycle of construction projects, including wip tracking, billing, collections support, and month-end close processes.
the ideal candidate understands construction accounting, is detail-oriented, and can operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
key responsibilities
* manage wip (work in progress) reporting and job costing across active projects
* prepare and track monthly progress billings and pay applications
* monitor change orders, contract values, and project margins
* administer conditional and unconditional lien waivers and releases
* coordinate with subcontractors and vendors for billing documentation
* track general contractor payment status and support collections efforts
* support revenue forecasting and cash flow planning
* monitor operational expenses across departments
* perform general ledger reconciliations and assist with monthly close
* maintain and update the backlog margin dashboard
what success looks like
* accurate and up-to-date wip reporting across all projects
* timely and organized monthly billing and collections tracking
* clean, reliable, and audit-ready financials for leadership review
* clear visibility into cash flow and project profitability
* strong coordination with project managers, field teams, and leadership
qualifications
must have 4–7+ years of accounting experience
must have a strong knowledge of:
* wip schedules
* job costing
* percentage-of-completion accounting
must have experience with:
* construction billing
* lien waivers
* retainage (preferred)
proficiency in:
* quickbooks
* excel
* procore (preferred)
