the purchasing specialist will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services necessary for our manufacturing operations.
this role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong negotiation skills and experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment.
key responsibilities:
procurement management:
source and purchase materials and services required for production, ensuring quality and cost-efficiency.
develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality.
negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure the best possible prices and delivery schedules.
supplier relations:
identify and evaluate potential suppliers, conducting regular assessments to ensure compliance with company standards.
maintain an updated database of suppliers, pricing, and delivery schedules.
resolve any issues or discrepancies with suppliers promptly and effectively.
inventory management:
monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient supply while minimizing excess stock.
coordinate with the production and inventory management teams to forecast demand and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
implement and maintain inventory management systems to track purchases, deliveries, and stock levels.
cost control:
monitor and control procurement budgets, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about market trends and pricing.
develop strategies to reduce procurement expenses without compromising quality.
documentation and reporting:
prepare and maintain accurate records of purchases, suppliers, and inventory levels.
generate reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management based on analysis.
qualifications:
*education*:
bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
*experience*:
minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
*skills*:strong negotiation and contract management skills.
proficiency in procurement software and tools.
strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
excellent verbal and written communication skills.
language proficiency:
fluency in english is essential; proficiency in spanish is highly preferred.
preferred qualifications:
experience in the dredging, marine, or industrial sectors.
familiarity with international procurement and logistics.
knowledge of erp systems and inventory management software.
