a senior database administrator will be responsible for managing and optimizing sql server databases to ensure their reliability, availability, and performance. Here are the key aspects of the role:
about the role
in this opportunity as a senior database administrator, you will be responsible to:
* database management: install, upgrade, and maintain sql server instances across multiple environments.
* performance tuning: optimize database performance through index tuning, query optimization, and resource monitoring.
* backup and recovery: design and implement robust backup strategies and disaster recovery processes.
* high availability solutions: implement and manage high availability solutions such as availability groups, failover clustering, and log shipping.
* monitoring: enhance sql monitoring process
* troubleshooting: diagnose and resolve complex database issues in production and non-production environments.
* security audits: perform regular security audits and implement measures to protect sensitive data.
* collaboration: work closely with developers, it staff, and stakeholders to improve application performance and solve database-related issues.
* documentation: accurately document work and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* support 24x7 operations/production sql server 2016+
about you
you’re a fit for the role if your background includes:
* a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as information systems, information technology, computer science, or engineering.
* 5 years of hands-on experience managing sql server in various environments
* proficiency in sql server versions 2016–2022, including installation, configuration, and migration
* strong understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutions
* deep knowledge of sql performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
* experience with cloud-based sql server deployments (azure sql database, aws rds, etc.)
* strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
* experience in monitoring and acting on critical production issues (datadog experience would be optimal)
* aws experience (specifically designing, implementing, and/or supporting rds)
* experience in automation through scripting, ssis package & ssrs report development
* excellent communication skills to interact with various teams and stakeholders
* ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously
