It includes deploying best practices in a specific engineering domain, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, overseeing simulations and tests, and interacting with customers autonomously.
as a member of the plant team, the product development engineer level 2 is in charge of the complete holistic engineering of the product and process for serial life programs, in compliance with quality, cost, timing for delivery, performance and people objectives and within pms (program management system) requirements.
due to the nature of the serial life program where the development workload of the product is less intense than ongoing programs before the sop+90 milestone, which marks the transition of accountability for the product development engineer level 2.
the main missions of the role: the product development engineer level 2 is the primary forvia technical representative in front of the customer. Leads the pdca (plan-do-check-act) for all technical/engineering related problem solving needs. Manages concept through implementation, including analysis and validation of engineering changes coming from manufacturing, production, purchasing, external suppliers and customer design changes. Builds an internal engineering schedule to align with the customer master schedule and industrialization/purchasing or other constraints. Accounts for all technical/engineering reporting to the program review committee (pmc), including risks, opportunities and action plans. Formally releases/approves internally all data levels given to the customer (cad data, customer-specific engineering templates, etc.) and for internal use. Establishes and manages the boms with pdm in any existing platform (e.g., sap). Manages and updates the dfmea and completes the action plan related to product engineering jurisdiction. Manages engineering changes through the ecm process. Leads the action plan to solve technical issues (including perceived quality issues). Implements forvia standards, guidelines and best practices and manages potential conflicts with customer standards via gts, including internal deviations approval when required (analyze and approve any product or process deviations). Supports risk management with robust technical inputs in compliance with product/process design standards, coordinating cross-functional reviews (efm). Defines tool/mold specifications with the support of technical fellows and approves tool design release through the launch process involving related parties (e.g., sqe, ipl). Proposes/analyzes/implements engineering changes to capitalize on value analysis/engineering (va/ve) with cost avoidance and/or savings. Defines the design validation plan and review (dvp&r) for the serial life products assigned. Responsible for engineering validation for all product and process changes to reach full ppap on-time and in compliance with oem and legal requirements.
