Most of the management lives in Morelia, Michoacan and commutes one hour daily to Zacapu, Michoacan although you can use the executive housing when needed (ocassionally or permanently while employed).
THE POSITION
Job Objective
Lead, plan, organize, and control all operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and long-term growth. The General Manager will be responsible for optimizing performance across production, supply chain, engineering, maintenance, quality, finance, and strategic planning while promoting a culture of safety, innovation, and accountability. Key challenges include improving work environment and employee satisfaction; improving communication between management and employees; reduce scrap and rework; drive cost reductions; and strengthening equipment maintenance programs.
Job Summary
Full responsibility for all operations at the plant, with oversight of multidisciplinary teams and cross-functional leadership to achieve operational, financial (P&L), and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic plans that ensure operational excellence, efficiency, and profitability.
Lead multidisciplinary teams across production, engineering, logistics, maintenance, and quality.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives with a strong focus on Lean and Six Sigma principles.
Establish and monitor KPIs to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and customer satisfaction.
Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards.
Manage budgets, P&L, financial planning, and cost-control initiatives to meet or exceed targets.
Strengthen supplier, client, and regulatory relationships to reinforce plant reputation and sustainability.
Foster a high-performance culture that emphasizes talent development, accountability, and collaboration.
THE CANDIDATE
Candidate Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (prefer Industrial, Chemical engineering, or related Engineering degree). May consider other degrees coupled with equivalent experience. A Master’s degree in Finance or business administration is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years in leadership roles within large-scale manufacturing operations. Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience in production supervision, 2 years in plant management, 2 years in production planning, and 2 years in supply chain. 5+ years’ as General Manager, Plant Director, Sr. Plant Manager or similar role is required.
Technical Knowledge:
Manufacturing processes, supply chain and logistics, procurement (price and contract negotiations), strategic planning, production management, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies, 5’s, ISO 9001:2015.
Financial Knowledge:
Costs, Cost Control, Budgeting, and P&L Management. Good business acumen.
Other:
Familiar with Safety, Workplace rules and regulations, Customs (foreign trade) regulations, CAPEX, and Risk Assessment.
Unions:
Solid experience with Unions, Collective bargaining agreements, negotiations.
Leadership Competencies:
Visionary leadership, strategic thinking, analytical skills, decision-making ability, effective communication, and proven success in building and developing high-performing teams.
Ideal candidate will be down to earth, respectful, considerate, empathetic, possess solid emotional intelligence and good people skills, and be able to win trust easily.
Fluent in English and Spanish.
Ideal candidate will have experience with SAP or similar ERP. MS Office including intermediate EXCEL.
