position overview
the community resource coordinator (referred to as coordinator) is responsible for the coordination, development, and evaluation of programs and services that contribute to the resiliency of the assigned unit's force and families. The coordinator will organize and oversee peer support networks, recruit and vet active duty and family member peer support counselors, and ensure they are trained according to ussocom crc standards.
the coordinator will collect and report data for program assessments, support commands at multiple levels and locations, and develop needs-based programming for specific demographic groups and geographic areas. Extensive knowledge of dod resources such as military onesource, military family life counselors (mflc), personal financial counselors (pfc), and the military crisis line is essential. Responsibilities include:
* establish and report on peer counseling networks
* conduct family orientation, outreach, and referrals
* support deployment and reintegration activities
* implement family and psychological support programs, including suicide prevention and cognitive agility training
* develop standard operating procedures and protocols
* serve as a liaison for community and family support matters
* utilize media and social media for communication
* maintain awareness of emergency response protocols
qualifications
candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in education, human/social services, or a related field, or have at least four years of experience in social services, volunteering, or work/family life coordination. Willingness to undergo specialized training in peer support counseling, community resources, referrals, and suicide prevention is required. Candidates must stay current with best practices and developments in peer support and suicide prevention, and be knowledgeable about dod, service, and community resources supporting service members and families.
