Position summary: reporting to the noc manager, thenoc shift supervisor works collaboratively with infrastructure,operations and application teams to help ensure the stableoperation, reliability, and security of infrastructure and criticalsystems.
the noc supervisor will provide support, guidance,direction and developmental skills to the noc team under thedirection of the noc manager.
managing staff, including makinghiring decisions, facilitating employee skills development,resolving disagreements, motivating, mentoring and making dutyassignments are included in this job's responsibilities.
thenetwork operations center (noc) is responsible for the 24x7x365monitoring of all critical systems.
while maintaining highstandards and performance, the noc provides technical support forboth internal and external company clients and products.
inaddition, the noc maintains communications with appropriatepersonnel to provide escalation and notification of systemanomalies.
overall, noc is responsible for monitoring,participating in the major incident process, and troubleshooting ofincidents to resolution.
key responsibilities: • manage shiftpersonnel who oversee and/or perform all aspects of site plannedand unplanned maintenance • provide leadership and make decisionsregarding priorities, best practice methodologies and operationalexecution to build and maintain a 'best in class' noc team • ensureadequate coverage for the 24x7x365 /noc environment to maintain100% compliance with service level agreements • coordinate withother shift supervisors and the noc manager to facilitate trainingand skills development for the noc staff • coordinate with othershift supervisors and the noc manager to develop and report onmetrics for the performance of the team • maintain channels ofcommunication with stakeholders to ensure prompt technical supportof any and all business impacting incidents.
• coordinate with thethe team to ensure best practices for monitoring, major incidentsand support of requested applications are followed • developmonitors and other solutions through the use of scriptinglanguages, monitoring tools and other available technologies •develop shell scripts to accomplish redundant tasks to simplify indistributed administration.
• participate in monitoring theavailability of hyatt systems and datacenters that are crucial today to day operations through the use of hyatt's suite ofmonitoring solutions • participate in troubleshooting system andnetwork performance through knowledge of tcp/ip and networkingprinciples, as well as web technologies • maintain channels ofcommunication with stakeholders to ensure prompt technical supportof any and all business impacting incidents • identify, implementand improve effective processes and procedures to improve teameffectiveness • seeks, applies and demonstrates best practice tochampion innovative and creative business solutions • ensures theteam follows the defined standards to resolve specific sets ofincidents/problems • ensure team maintains and updates knowledgebase related to supported applications • the positionresponsibilities outlined above are in no way to be construed asall encompassing.
other duties, responsibilities, andqualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessaryqualifications: • 5+ years experience with high-end monitoringtools, automation of tasks, unix scripting (perl or shell), androot-cause problem resolution required • 2+ years of supervisoryexperience • solid understanding of itil including change,incident, problem and knowledge management and their relationships• flexible to work after-hours to provide support as needed •strong analytical and problem solving skills • possess detailedunderstanding of support processes • call center, customer service,and hospitality industry experience desirable • wan and lan networkmanagement, architecture, and security experience desirable •strong knowledge of tcp/ip and networking principles as well as webtechnologies • must have excellent written, verbal and presentationskills • must have strong interpersonal skills, ability to mediateand delegate, and enforce operational policies • ability toinfluence associates • ability to learn quickly and share knowledge• desire to work as part of a team • self-starter, motivated andeffectively aggressive • adaptable to new processes, procedures,acquisitions, and internal growth of the hyatt brand education: •itil v3 (or current) certified preferred • bachelor degree orequivalent experience experience: • looking for someone who has alot of monitoring experience as well as scripting.
