Indirect sourcing category manager – mro & packagingfull-timedepartment: supply chainthe indirect sourcing category manager is an individual contributor responsible for leading strategic sourcing activities for north america.
this role manages a complex portfolio of goods & services, provides strategic leadership, manages internal relationships, and supports supplier relationship management within the mro & secondary packaging categories, representing approximately $70m in spend.the role involves working closely with business stakeholders across all fortune brand operating companies to understand needs and develop/execute sourcing strategies aimed at reducing total cost of ownership through negotiation skills, tools, and processes.
the manager will build strong cross-functional relationships, execute value-driven projects, and implement best practices, collaborating with operations and finance.partner with key stakeholders and senior leadership to understand strategic direction, business objectives, supply requirements, and priorities to develop and implement effective sourcing and demand management strategies.build and manage the project pipeline through category expertise and stakeholder collaboration.develop, communicate, and execute sourcing strategies for assigned categories.achieve business objectives by capturing value through cost improvements, supplier consolidation, cost avoidance, process improvements, and risk mitigation.maintain deep industry and category expertise to provide actionable insights and drive best practices across functions.negotiate supplier agreements considering commercial, legal, and risk factors.leverage market data sources and best practices to enhance performance.ensure compliance with fbin policies among stakeholders, team members, and suppliers.qualifications:fluent in english with strong reading and writing skills.minimum of 5 years experience in sourcing mro / industrial supplies, ppe, consumables, pallets, shrink/stretch wrap, etc.deep understanding of procurement practices, including sourcing, negotiations, supplier and industry analysis, and rfx processes.experience with agile methodologies is a plus.willingness to travel approximately 10-15% globally.self-starter with ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, and succeed in a fast-paced environment.customer-focused with strong interpersonal, presentation, relationship-building, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.strong contract negotiation skills, including legal collaboration.excellent project management and analytical skills, capable of working independently and leading cross-functional teams.accountability-driven, with strategic thinking, organizational savvy, and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.strong problem-solving skills, mature judgment, and a penchant for innovation.strategic mindset, future-oriented, capable of creating competitive strategies aligned with vision.leadership qualities to influence decision-making at all organizational levels.knowledge or quick learning ability in agile methodologies.encourages innovation, learning from failure, and growth.
