general job description:
under close supervision, performs the following activities:
* assists customers by tracing packages, answering questions regarding fedex products and services, and providing over-the-counter and over-the-phone service.
* prepares various operations reports by typing or other methods.
* handles customers with packages in cage.
* maintains and audits records and files as assigned, including airway bills. Reviews airway bills and registers as necessary.
* checks packages for proper labeling, legality of content, weight, size, proper wrapping, insurance values, special requirements for hazardous material shipment, and compliance with customs documentation.
* provides administrative and clerical support to the station operations manager.
* interfaces with customers on customs-related issues.
* maintains a neat and clean appearance of the workplace/front counter, self, and uniform.
* recognizes new customers or additional business opportunities, opens new accounts, obtains additional shipments, and submits sales leads.
* performs other duties as assigned.
minimum requirements:
education:
* high school diploma or equivalent.
* fluency in the local language, both spoken and written.
* basic english proficiency.
experience:
* at least one (1) year of clerical or customer service experience in a service environment.
skills:
* good general office skills including typing, filing, and computer literacy.
* excellent communication, organizational, and human relations skills.
* clear and articulate speaking voice; neat appearance and clean-cut.
* ability to pass the reading, listening, sorting, and math sections of the basic skills test.
* ability to lift up to 70 lbs (32 kg) and maneuver packages weighing up to 150 lbs (68 kg) with appropriate equipment.
* ability to work variable shifts.
