your role: accounting manager
as accounting manager, you will oversee and manage all accounting operations for a portfolio of inventory-heavy, high-growth manufacturing clients. Your mission is to create accurate financials, implement strong controls, and build foundational accounting processes that support scale.
you will collaborate directly with founders, supply chain partners, and external bookkeeping and tax teams to ensure financial clarity, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
key responsibilitiesaccounting leadership
* provide oversight for accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
* prepare, review, and analyze accurate and timely financial statements, including p&l, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
* safeguard the integrity of the general ledger through proper reconciliations, journal entries, and key accounting procedures.
* recommend and assist in implementing internal controls and accounting policies tailored to each client's specific growth stage and operational structure.
* act as the primary point of contact for the client's accounting function, providing direction, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring alignment with strategic financial objectives.
inventory & cost accounting
* lead all aspects of inventory accounting, including cycle counts, reconciliations, and valuations.
* ensure the accuracy of standard costing, bill of materials (bom) reviews, margin analysis, and cost variance tracking.
* collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to drive improvements in unit economics and cost of goods sold (cogs).
financial model maintenance
* update financial models at month-end by extracting finalized data from quickbooks and incorporating actual results into provided templates.
* work closely with the fp&a team to ensure alignment between accounting records and financial forecasts.
* identify discrepancies between projected and actual results and escalate material variances for further analysis.
* maintain proper version control and documentation to ensure auditability and transparency.
financial process optimization
* identify inefficiencies or gaps in accounting processes and propose improvements to enhance accuracy and timeliness.
* develop and refine standard operating procedures (sops) for ar/ap, inventory accounting, and month-end close processes.
* implement and maintain accounting systems and tools such as quickbooks, excel, and automation platforms.
client advisory
* serve as a trusted accounting advisor to clients, providing guidance on gaap compliance, cost controls, and cash flow management.
* clearly present financial information to ceos and stakeholders, translating data into actionable insights.
team collaboration
* manage relationships with third-party bookkeeping and tax service providers.
* coordinate with the internal fp&a team to ensure data integrity and consistency across financial models and forecasts.
requirements
* minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in manufacturing or inventory-driven industries (preferred).
* financial planning & analysis (fp&a) experience is considered an asset.
* strong expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and gaap reporting.
* high proficiency with quickbooks and microsoft excel.
* proven experience managing or executing the full month-end close process.
* ability to develop and implement accounting sops and optimize workflows.
* excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
* experience working with high-growth companies or startups is advantageous.
* cpa designation is preferred but not required.
