Job description
we are seeking an experienced production planner to join our team. As a key member of our operations department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing production plans that meet 100% on-time delivery while best utilizing available capacity.
responsibilities:
* develop a production plan that meets 100% on-time delivery while best utilizing available capacity (line and colleague) that will drive mrp to schedule supplier deliveries on a timely basis.
* schedule production and monitor daily inventories of raw material, finished goods and work in process.
* monitor manufacturing's performance against the production schedule and make adjustments as required.
* forecast, release and expedite customer production requirements to and from suppliers and/or provide input for same.
* develop shipping schedule for finished goods.
* assist operations & hr in determining manning requirements based on sales forecasts.
* communicate with customer service representatives, shipping, quality assurance, and purchasing on scheduling issues.
* oversee production reporting and inventory accuracy.
* maintain inventory levels for all production material and conduct physical inventories as required.
* provide input for the monthly sales forecasts and maintain plant capacity for future business decision-making.
* resolve cycle count variances and verify manufacturing bill of materials accuracy.
* interface with customers, contractors and suppliers as required.
* report company approved measureables and related corrective/improvement actions for delivery performance.
* participate in team problem solving activities and process improvement activities (ex. 8 d reporting, kaizen, etc.).
* support plant activities towards achieving customer awards and quality registrations (ex. Ts-16949, gold pentastar, etc.).
* assist with plant activities to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals.
required skills and qualifications:
a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience is required. A minimum of three to five years of experience in production scheduling and/or inventory control is also necessary. Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to use microsoft office software, are essential. Knowledge of mrp/erp system is a must.
