about the role:
athletech media group is seeking a controller to join their finance team. This role will primarily focus on financial reporting, budgeting, and ensuring accuracy in all financial transactions. The controller will also play a critical part in optimizing financial systems and procedures to support their rapidly growing media business. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, capable of handling complex financial data, and able to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

responsibilities:
* manage and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with usgaap.
* assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
* perform detailed financial analysis and provide insights to senior management for business decisions.
* reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
* oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate billing and payments.
* prepare and review journal entries and assist in the month-end close process.
* assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documents and explanations of financial activities.
* develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to maintain accurate records.
* coordinate with the operations team to track expenses and manage project budgets.
* analyze and track cash flow to ensure the company's financial health and liquidity.
* collaborate with the cfo and other team members to streamline financial reporting processes and improve efficiency.
* help prepare tax filings and reports in conjunction with external tax professionals.
* provide financial training and support to other departments as needed.
qualifications:
* bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; cpa preferred.
* 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally in a media, digital, or similar fast-paced environment.
* strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
* excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
* proficient in quickbooks online and excel.
* ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
* strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.
* high level of integrity and professionalism.
* english c1 or above.
