This position supports payroll operations, maintains payroll records, and provides excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll and benefit deductions.essential duties and responsibilitiespayroll processing and complianceprocesses payroll-related data (e.g., timesheets, withholding information, contracts, benefit deductions, stipends, overtime, substitute pay, and leave adjustments) to authorize timely and accurate employee payment while complying with established payroll practices and fiscal guidelines.maintains a variety of payroll information, files, and records to ensure availability of documentation and compliance with established district policies and regulatory requirements.ensures payroll practices comply with fair labor standards act (flsa), irs employee-related guidelines, retirement reporting requirements, and other applicable regulations.researches and resolves payroll discrepancies including errors in pay, deductions, reporting, or leave balances.responds to inquiries regarding payroll from employees, administrators, and external agencies to provide information, assist in decision-making, and ensure appropriate action is taken.completes employment verification requests for current and former employees.maintains strict confidentiality of payroll and personnel information.reporting, reconciliation, and financial supportprepares payroll-related reports including quarterly state and federal payroll taxes, labor reports, retirement system reports, benefit reports, and gross-to-net payroll calculations.reconciles payroll account balances across multiple payroll budgets and ensures compliance with established accounting guidelines and district procedures.coordinates with human resources regarding new hires, terminations, salary changes, contract updates, and leave status adjustments.prepares written materials and electronic payroll documentation to support payroll activities, provide reference information, and comply with reporting requirements.assists auditors by providing supporting documentation and information related to payroll transactions and internal payroll processes.supports year-end payroll activities including w-2 preparation, reporting, and account reconciliation.other job functionsabide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.attend meetings as assigned.take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.performs other duties as assigned by the director of business operationsknowledge, skills, and abilitiesstrong organizational and time-management skillshigh attention to detail and accuracyknowledge of payroll processing procedures and regulatory compliance requirementsability to analyze data, reconcile financial records, and resolve discrepanciesstrong written and verbal communication skillsability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgmentability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlinesability to build positive working relationships with district staff and administratorswork environmentoffice setting within a school or district administrative buildingfrequent interaction with staff, administrators, and external agenciesextended periods of sitting and computer workoccasional lifting of office materials up to 20 poundsparticipation in meetings outside regular hours as neededattendanceconsistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this positionflsa statusnon - exemptsalary gradesupport staffterms of employment: 12 months; full timebackground clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the district.evaluation:performance will be evaluated by the director of special services in accordance with district policies and teacher evaluation procedures.applications will be screened as they are submitted.
