After a 2019 peak, another large outbreak occurred in 2022 and 2023. Existing methods such as insecticide spraying and clean‑up campaigns have not eliminated dengue. The driving down dengue in laos (dddil) project aims to reduce dengue transmission using wolbachia‑carrying aedes aegypti releases.
