the carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications.
the enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.the mechanical engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and delivering robust, cost-effective production machinery and automation systems for corning's manufacturing plants.
this individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex mechanical engineering challenges, define design specifications, and oversee the development of prototype and production equipment.
the role requires strong collaboration with external machine builders, system integrators, and suppliers to ensure seamless implementation of manufacturing solutions.key responsibilitieslead or support engineering project teams focused on process machine and automation system development.identify and resolve mechanical engineering and process equipment challenges.define and document machine specifications, budgets, and performance standards.develop and test mechanical designs, prototypes, and production equipment.partner with external vendors to successfully deliver integrated machine systems.generate and maintain construction and installation drawings that align with company standards.participate in system integration, debugging, installation, and production startup.conduct training sessions for plant personnel and ensure knowledge transfer.provide regular project updates and track expenditures to meet budgetary constraints.estimate time requirements for project tasks and monitor schedule performance.execute project assignments independently within a team-based environment
