*about the role*
the software developer mes, java is working within the digital automotive manufacturing team, interacting with the global it and business teams.
the primary scope is to design and implement sustainable, robust and secure software solutions on an enterprise level within the global mes solution portfolio under consideration of business
- and customer requirements, as well as the digital strategy.
supporting major incidents and daily operations from a 3rd level perspective.

- learn our approach of manufacturing and obtain our philosophy and mindset.
- create software architecture for specific system components in close collaboration with solution architects.
- interact with the it and manufacturing teams to analyze requirements and create concepts in alignment with the digital strategy, high performance, economic aspects and usability, especially related to production shopfloor.
- bring in new ideas, concepts and technology for optimizing software solutions.
- be an interface between business and digital, communicate to internal as well as customer (automotive oem) stakeholders.
- review project requests describing user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish the project.
- peer review the work of other developers.
- conduct internal and business testing sessions, review solutions, ensure software quality and be the responsible person for the deliverable.
- maintain software and provide customer (internal) support on the 3rd level.
*what you need to be successful*
- a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- java (7+ years work experience) in an enterprise environment designing and implementing software.
- solid understanding of web technologies (rest, webservice, ssl).
- documentation skills (uml, architecture diagrams, technical specifications, api documentation, c4 or arc42).
- global approach in handling development items and problem management.
- ability to oversee complex processes and problems.
- familiarity with solid principles and design patterns.
- excellent command of english.
- problem solving mindset.
- team player.

- knowledge high availability concepts in an enterprise environment.
- experience with databases in an enterprise environment.
- understanding the fundaments of cryptography concepts.
- experience with test automation, tdd, ci/cd pipelines.
- knowledge in manufacturing processes and related systems.
- knowledge of any mainstream manufacturing execution system (sap me preferred).
- solid experience with at least one major unix distribution
