about the role

the financial controller is responsible for safeguarding the financial health of the organization by ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements across the region. This role oversees financial operations including accounting, treasury, payroll, tax compliance, budgeting, and financial planning.

beyond core financial stewardship, the financial controller acts as a strategic business partner to regional leadership, supporting decision-making through financial insights that drive profitable growth, operational efficiency, and scalable financial processes. The role collaborates closely with regional operational leaders and the global cfo to identify opportunities for cost optimization, margin improvement, working capital efficiency, and sustainable expansion.

the financial controller works closely with the global cfo and regional director to ensure seamless integration of financial data for accurate reporting and analysis. This role requires an individual who exemplifies the company values of accountability, drive, ethical integrity, and a solutions-oriented mindset.

key responsibilities

financial leadership & governance

* manage the full finance function across seven international entities, including accounting, treasury, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax, audit, and payroll.
* ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with ifrs and corporate reporting standards.
* drive statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local regulatory and tax requirements.
* maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
* oversee key financial processes including daily bank reconciliations, invoicing accuracy, and the secure management of financial documentation.

business partnering & strategic contribution

* act as a trusted financial advisor to regional leadership, providing financial insights that support strategic decision-making and operational performance.
* partner with commercial and operational teams to improve profitability, optimize pricing strategies, and enhance margin performance across trade lanes and services.
* support regional growth initiatives by evaluating financial viability of new business opportunities, investments, and market expansion strategies.
* provide financial analysis to identify cost optimization opportunities and operational efficiency improvements across the region.
* drive financial discipline across business units by supporting leaders with budget management, financial forecasting, and performance monitoring.
* translate financial data into clear business insights that enable faster and more effective management decisions.

financial planning & performance management

* lead the regional budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
* conduct variance analysis and performance reviews to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
* monitor key financial and operational kpis including profitability, working capital, and cash flow performance.
* support regional leadership in achieving financial targets and improving overall financial performance.

process improvement & systems

* implement new processes to enhance efficiency and strengthen financial governance.
* lead global erp system implementation and financial automation initiatives to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
* promote the use of digital tools and analytics (power bi, erp systems, automation tools) to improve financial visibility and decision-making.

team leadership

* select, train, and develop the regional finance teams, fostering a high-performance culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
* provide mentorship and leadership to finance staff to ensure smooth and efficient financial operations.

education, skills and abilities

* bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field, with 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting roles.
* strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
* ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
* proficiency in microsoft office, particularly excel and power bi, and experience with erp systems.
* strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
* demonstrated ability to influence business decisions through financial analysis and strategic recommendations.
* solid knowledge of ifrs financial reporting standards.
* experience in financial planning, budgeting, and performance analysis.
* strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain a strategic perspective.
* ability to leverage technology and automation tools to enhance financial processes and compliance.
* fluency in english is required
