Overview
Responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that revenues meet or exceed budget in order to maximize revenue and profits, and to improve the hotel’s performance in the marketplace.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all transient sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel
- Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly SMART goals, annual goals, sales, forecasts and other reports as directed/required
- Develop rates, and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management
- Participate in sales presentations, property tours and customer meetings
- Conduct and attend business review meetings, strategic sales meetings, management meetings and other meetings as required/ requested
- Represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events
- Participate as team player with other key executive members
- Be a leader and role model to all team members
- Administer and ensure timely completion of all activities of the Sales Department
- Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOPs, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team
- Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies
- Meet or exceed established goals
- Coordinate transient bookings to maximize profits
- Initiate and follow up on leads
- Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within said market
- Coordinate all non-group transient sales solicitations to maximize market mix
- Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner
- Participate weekly sales meetings and daily line ups
- Devising or modifying procedures to solve process problems that will result in more efficient
- Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager
- We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional guest service
Additional Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the venue teams
- Communicate with employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information
- Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy restaurant activity, serving as a role model for team and other employees. Interact with other department personnel and venue staff as needed
- Make decisions and take actions based on previous experience and good judgment, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum five (5) years of sales leadership experience in similar sized operation required, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage, catering sales, conference service and marketing management experience, guest relations and etiquette
- Basic understanding of legal contract language
- Proven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation with a proven track record of living the company's values
- An intermediate to proficient understanding of computer systems such as Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook is preferred
- Enter and locate work related information using computers and/or point of sale systems
- Ability to spend extended lengths of time viewing a computer screen
- Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor
- Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high level of attention to detail
- Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
- Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
- Must be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift

Call Center Sales Manager – Job Summary
To generate maximum sales efficiencies, while maintaining or exceeding targeted net sales volume. Must promote and support all aspects of customer service and enhancement. They assist with the supervision of a sales line through coaching, modelling, and reinforcing effective sales and customer service practices, behaviors, and results. Must maintain a professional and personal image that upholds the MVW standards of integrity, quality, and service to customers.
Makes department/multi-department resource decisions that have a financial impact as well as an impact on meeting discipline and/or business goals. It should lead an interdepartmental relationship with Operations and Marketing.
Expected Contributions
- Maintain maximum sales efficiencies while maintaining or exceeding targeted net sales volume
- Must be able to recruit, train, coach, and counsel all Sales Representatives to maximize their potential
- Participates in the hiring, supervision, evaluation, counseling, training, coaching, and motivating the sales teams, including goal setting, and monitoring of production
- Must be able to ride with Sales Representatives and critique their sales presentation
- Orients new employees and assists with continuing education/training of the sales team
- Administers written policies and procedures for departmental operations, including Human Resource paperwork
- Participates in staff meeting and attends other meetings, such as seminars and training as required
- Must review and communicate monthly evaluation of Team Leader/Sales Representative effectiveness and production based on set goals
- Implement ongoing motivation programs for Sales Representatives
- Are responsible for training Team Leaders in closing tables and assist in closing, if necessary, with no direct compensation
- Represent the company in matters of customer relations (problem solving)
- Generate maximum sales efficiencies while maintaining a professional and personal image and upholding MVW standards of integrity, quality, and service to customers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Hotel Management degree preferred
- Three to five years’ experience gained through increasingly responsible positions within the vacation membership field
- Bilingual, ability to speak English and Spanish, fluently
- Proven track record of success
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Must be results-oriented with ability to be flexible
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and be a self-starter
- Proven time management skills
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of the organization
- Detail oriented, ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work flexible hours and days; may require working holidays and/or a six- to seven-day work schedule
- Stands, sits, or walks for extended periods; ability to climb stairs
- Moves, lifts, carries, pushes, pulls, and places objects weighing less than or equal to 35 pounds without assistance
