The lean manufacturing engineer is responsible for driving operational excellence through the implementation of lean principles, productivity improvements, and waste reduction initiatives across the manufacturing site. This engineer partners with operations, quality, engineering, human resources, and maintenance teams to implement sustainable improvements that increase throughput, reduce cycle time, increase equipment utilization, optimize labor efficiency, and enhance overall manufacturing performance in an electronic component manufacturing plant.
this role also serves as a lean subject matter expert, coaching leadership and developing a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
key responsabilities:
* independently lead high-impact projects to deliver prioritized business outcomes, including kaizen events and value stream mapping, across production areas.
* analyze production processes, develop and implement initiatives to improve labor productivity, cycle time, yield, throughput, and capacity utilization.
* identify opportunities for value creation, revenue generation, and elimination of waste using lean tools such as 5s, smed, poka-yoke, kanban systems, visual management, line balancing, and standard work.
* perform time studies and work measurement to optimize workstation design, improve material and process flow, and layout optimization.
* train production support teams on lean tools and problem-solving methodologies.
* mentor supervisors and engineers in structured problem-solving approaches.
qualifications:
* bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related field. Master’s degree in engineering, operations, or business is a plus.
* lean six sigma black belt certification
* 10+ years of experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement roles.
* demonstrated experience leading productivity improvement initiatives.
* strong knowledge of lean methodologies, value stream mapping (vsm), time studies, work measurement, and line balancing.
* root cause analysis tools: 5 whys, fishbone, a3 problem solving
* statistical process analysis and familiarity with erp systems are a plus.
* strong analytical and problem-solving capability
* ability to influence cross-functional teams
* project management and facilitation skills
* financial acumen - understands commercial aspects and can build a business case for delivering significant value impacting bs or p&l
* ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels and training ability

* familiar with kpis for oee and labor productivity improvement, reduction in cycle time, scrap, and lead times to provide cost savings from improvement projects
* familiar with electronics components manufacturing processes such as smt, pcb assembly, automated test systems, and high-speed assembly lines.
