The role
as a maintenance intern in the garcía plant, you will support the development and implementation of a smart cost‑management model for maintenance activities. This project focuses on analyzing cost drivers, strengthening maintenance practices, and enabling data‑driven control mechanisms to optimize, monitor, and reduce maintenance expenses across fixed assets.
What you’ll do (impact areas)
- analyze the current maintenance system and its cost distribution across activities, assets, and resources.
- identify critical factors driving maintenance costs, including failures, downtime, spare parts, and external labor.
- design and implement a monitoring and control model that may include dashboards, alerts, and standardized reports.
- document the full cost‑management process and ensure it is functional, traceable, and aligned with maintenance best practices.
- support maintenance engineers in implementing improvements related to preventive/corrective activities.
- train maintenance personnel on the correct use of the cost‑management model and its tools.
- contribute to data validation, standardization, and analysis for decision‑making.
What success looks like
- a complete initial diagnostic of maintenance cost management, including insights and improvement areas.
- a documented and functional cost‑management model ready for deployment.
- a dashboard or digital tool that provides visibility and control over cost drivers.
- trained maintenance personnel capable of using the model effectively.
- a final report summarizing results, impact, and actionable recommendations.
Core competencies
- analytical thinking and strong attention to detail
- data interpretation and process‑oriented mindset
- ability to collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams
- initiative and curiosity for continuous improvement
- clear communication and documentation skills
what you bring (qualifications)
applicable backgrounds:
- ingeniería industrial administrativa (iia)
- ingeniería en mantenimiento (ima)
- ingeniería mecánica/eléctrica (ime)
- ingeniería mecatrónica
preferred skills:
- interest in maintenance management and optimization
- ability to analyze data and cost structures
- basic knowledge of maintenance indicators and good practices
- experience with excel, dashboards, or digital tools (power bi deseable)
work model & travel
on-site at garcía plant.
No travel required.
Our commitment to you
you’ll contribute to a high‑impact initiative designed to optimize maintenance costs and reinforce reliability strategies. This internship provides hands‑on experience in maintenance analysis, model development, kpi monitoring, and cross‑functional collaboration to enhance operational performance and cost efficiency.
