Overview
The Engineering Group Manager is a senior management role responsible for delivering results through a team or department. The position drives a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and deployment of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The objective is to lead efforts to ensure quality standards are met within existing and planned framework.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the goals of the functional area are delivered to appropriate Operations & Technology (O&T;) organizations
- Oversee O&T; spending to ensure the firm’s finances are budgeted and spent according to the CTO’s technology strategies
- Manage overall execution of IT strategy and roadmap for the technology area
- Lead operational readiness and conformance to global operational standards for ongoing operation and support
- Apply an in-depth understanding of how engineering integrates within technology and commercial awareness
- Train and coach team members, conduct performance management, monitor quality and quantity of work, and address development needs for assigned personnel
- Make evaluative judgments based on analysis of information in complex or unique situations using multiple sources
- Influence engineering through overseeing planning, finances/budget, end results and policy setting
- Negotiate with senior leaders across functions and with external parties as required
- Assess risk in business decisions, safeguard the firm’s reputation and assets, drive compliance with applicable laws and regulations, adhere to policy, apply ethical judgment, escalate and report control issues, and supervise others to ensure standards are maintained
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience in an engineering role with commensurate people-management experience
- Experience in Financial Services or a large complex/global environment
- Project management experience
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices
- Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills
- Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of parts of a project or initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines or changing requirements
- Proven track record of operational process change and improvement
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
- Responsable de las distintas áreas de Soporte Técnico de la Plataforma Unisys, incluidas las de Soporte a la Infraestructura (Sistemas Operativos, administración del HW Y SW, Almacenamiento, Productos de Terceros, Conectividad y Seguridad), Soporte a las Aplicaciones (Capa de Middleware, Sistemas Transaccionales y Bases de Datos), Arquitectura e Ingeniería de la Plataforma (vista Infraestructura), e Integración de Soluciones, entre otras. Así mismo, responsable del Modelo Operativo para la óptima operación de la Plataforma Unisys, y su alineación a los objetivos del IT Strategy.
- Experiencia en infraestructura tecnológica
- Inglés avanzado (Escrito y conversacional)
- Experiencia en manejo de equipos Mainframe/ Midrange
