Overview
Regional Operations Manager, Transportation Operations Management, Amazon Transportation Services (ATS). The MX ATS Transportation Operation Management (TOM) team is seeking a Regional Operations Manager with strong delivery record and leadership experience to own and execute strategic and cross-functional yard operations. TOM oversees trailer yard operations at 13 Fulfillment Centers (FC), 3 Sort Centers (SC), and 1 Cross Dock (IXD) across Mexico, ensuring yard safety, efficient trailer movement, and guard shack operations management. TOM is the main focal point between Site Operations and Transportation Network and is part of ATS, a dynamic team shaping middle-mile transportation execution and developing innovative transportation management concepts to improve the ATS Network and drive a reliable, cost-efficient customer experience.
The role requires launching TOM functions to cover new FCs and SCs launches in MX, driving safety and quality initiatives, analyzing transportation data to identify opportunities for network efficiency, and coordinating with site support staff to secure resources for projects.
Key job responsibilities
- Own TOM field operations and projects in the MX Sort Centers (SC) and Cross Dock (IXD).
- Own the overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience for yard management activities in the region.
- Manage a group of TOM Area Managers within the regional cluster.
- Drive a performance culture, instill ownership, and create a high-performing team.
- Launch the TOM function to cover new FCs and Sort Centers (SC) launches in MX.
- Set and clarify requirements and expectations with the FCs and SCs Senior Operations Managers, negotiate when needed.
- Establish and own performance metrics and communicate them to TOM leadership.
- Drive creation of safety and quality initiatives, process changes, and lean initiatives to meet and exceed business plans.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for improving network efficiency.
- Share best practices across departments, shifts, and the network.
- Work with sites’ support staff (PXT, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT) and Site leadership to secure resources for projects and initiatives in their sites.
- Drive and rollout tech initiatives for step changes in yard performances.
Days in role
A day in the life includes reviewing key metrics such as On Time Departure, Safety Yard Events, Yard Capacity, Dwelling, and Truck Utilization to monitor operational performance; identifying blockers, surfacing concerns, and exploring innovative solutions; collaborating across multiple sites to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 3+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
- Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- Travel up to 50% of the time.
- 5+ years of employee and performance management experience.
- Travel within Mexico in their specific region.
- English and Spanish fluent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques experience.
