Media relations specialist
we are seeking a highly skilled media relations specialist to join our team. As a key member of our communications department, you will be responsible for implementing media relations operational plans aligned with our organization's mission and strategic goals.
the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including:
* executing media outreach strategies to secure positive coverage in global, regional, and national media;
* monitoring media coverage and producing regular reports to assess pr effectiveness and inform strategy.
in addition to these responsibilities, the media relations specialist will be required to:
* write and edit press releases, media advisories, news articles, and thought leadership content that effectively communicates our research breakthroughs, development impact, and human-interest stories;
* craft compelling narratives that highlight our organization's achievements and contributions to the field;
* create engaging content for media channels and support donor communications campaigns.
to be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
* a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations, or a related field;
* minimum 5 years of experience in media relations, public affairs, or strategic communications, preferably in an international or research-focused organization;
* proven track record of securing media coverage and managing media events;
* strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in english; spanish and/or french proficiency is a plus;
* experience with media monitoring tools and analytics platforms;
* ability to work collaboratively across departments and cultures;
* strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
