Role summary:
the buyouts category manageris responsible fordeveloping and executing category strategies for critical externally sourced components used in pump and valve assemblies that are not flowserve-designed. This role will lead market intelligence, supplier strategy, commercial negotiations, innovation support, supplier development, sourcing roadmaps, and risk mitigation across key buyouts subcategories.
the position requires a strong combination of strategic thinking, technical and industrial understanding, commercial capability, and analyticalexpertise. The successful candidate will act as the category leader for assigned buyouts segments, delivering value through cost competitiveness, supply continuity, innovation, and supplier performance improvement.
scope of responsibility
the role covers critical buyouts subcategories, including but not limited to:motors, drives, and engines,winches,couplings and bearings,mechanical seals andsealsystems,lube oil systems,actuatorsand other critical externally sourced subcomponents integrated into pump and valve packages
1. develop and execute category strategies for assigned buyouts subcategories in line with business, operational, and financial objectives
2. analysespend, market dynamics, and supply risks toidentifycost‑saving, value‑creation, and resilience opportunities.
3. build,maintain, and continuously update sourcing roadmaps for each subcategory,identifyingkey opportunities, supplier strategies, risk exposure, and future actions.
4. identify, assess, and onboard new suppliers to improve competitiveness, flexibility, innovation, and regional resilience
5. analyseglobal supply markets and prepare market intelligence for the category, including supplier landscape, cost drivers, capacity, technology trends, regional dynamics, and inflationary impacts
6. lead strategic sourcing activities including rfps, negotiations, supplierselection, and contract implementation.
7. together with supplier managers, support the management of supplier relationships, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
8. partner with internal stakeholders across procurement, engineering, operations, quality, and supplier management to align sourcing decisions with technical and business requirements
9. drive contract compliance negotiations and implementation, ensuring value realisation from negotiated agreements.
10. identifyopportunities for supplier consolidation, localisation, dual sourcing, or innovation.
11. ensure adherence to procurement policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
12. support transformation initiatives such as digital procurement tools, supplier rationalisation, or esg objectives.
13. develop andmaintainanalytical tools, dashboards, and reporting models in excel and power bi to support category planning, supplier decisions, market analysis, and performance tracking.

qualifications
required
bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, business, industrial management, or a related field
minimum 5 years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, procurement, technical sales, product management, or engineering in an industrial environment
experience managing technically complex categories and negotiating with global suppliers
strong commercial skills with proven success in negotiations, including contracts and price increase discussion.
experience in supply market analysis, supplier development, and category strategy.
advanced skills in excel and power bi, with the ability to create practical tools, dashboards, and data models.
strong analytical capability with the ability to convert data into sourcing actions and strategic recommendations
technical and/or industrial background with the ability to understand product applications and supplier capabilities
professionalproficiencyin english, written and spoken
preferred
experience with industrial components such as motors, drives, couplings, bearings, seals, actuators, engines, or auxiliary systems.
