Overviewthe import/export compliance specialist is responsible for ensuring that all import and export operations comply with mexican customs regulations, international trade laws, and internal company policies.
this role supports cross-border operations by managing documentation, regulatory classifications, and communication with customs brokers and government authorities.responsibilitiesensure compliance with mexican customs regulations, including those established by servicio de administración tributaria(sat).
manage and maintain accurate import/export documentation (pedimentos, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, etc.).
classify goods under the harmonized tariff schedule (hts) and verify correct tariff codes.monitor compliance with secretaría de economía regulations and applicable trade agreements.coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal departments to ensure timely customs clearance.ensure compliance with usmca (t-mec) requirements when applicable.conduct internal compliance audits and risk assessments.maintain immex program compliancesupport responses to customs inquiries, audits, or verifications.track regulatory updates and implement procedural changes accordingly.provide training to internal stakeholders on trade compliance requirements.qualifications3+ years of experience in import/export compliance in mexico.strong knowledge of mexican customs law (ley aduanera) and foreign trade regulations.experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.knowledge of immex, prosec, and usmca (t-mec).
