The applications engineer is a hybrid position between a cost engineer, a test engineer and a product engineer. This position will analyze and calculate costs associated with diverse manufacturing projects, ensuring accuracy in estimates and alignment with financial and company goals. This position acts as a liaison between penn mexico's manufacturing plant and customer technical teams, sales representatives, field manufacturing engineers as well as providers. It is also responsible for coordination of new product development activities within penn mexico.requirements:education:· bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, engineering technology or equivalent.experience/knowledge:· 1 to 3 years of experience in cost estimation within the metal-mechanics manufacturing industry.· at least one year of experience doing 3d modeling and engineering design.· ability to perform detailed analyses of direct and indirect costs and find cost-saving opportunities.· capability to coordinate engineering activities in a first-hand manufacturing environment.· potential to develop organizational and presentation skills.· experience in a project leadership role (ideal).· able to speak, read & write english.computer skills:· able to model in creo (preferably) or any other 3d modeling software.· familiarity with erp systems such as sap, salesforce or oracle is a plus.· ms office proficient.key competencies:· effective communication skills (both verbal and written) with regional and territory managers, sales representatives, distributors, suppliers and customers.· critical thinking skills for technical issues and development of customized products.· design for manufacturing philosophy.· high sense of responsibility and work commitment.· manage tight deadlines to meet quotation demands and technical project requirements.primary responsibilitiesmain responsibilities are mentioned below but not limited to:quoting· serve as the liaison between the manufacturing plant and customer technical staff, sales representatives, field application engineers and suppliers.· evaluate material costs, labor, production times, and overhead expenses for new projects and product updates.· process quotations promptly by estimating costs, creating customer drawings, and entering data into salesforce and erp systems.· ensure that cost estimates follow quality standards and technical specifications.· review technical requirements with manufacturing engineering, production and quality before generating cost estimates.· analyze materials, thermal treatments and finishes.· analyze and solve costumers' issues through applied experience as well as performing daily duties.product engineering / apqp· creates process drawings.· creates item data, boms, routers for new products· host and lead apqp meetings with the involved staff.· develop and coordinate strategic plans for unique product concepts and associated product testing.product testing· assist in or conducting technical training for customers, representatives, and distributors of penn engineering.· participate in the development of testing programs to enhance existing product lines or develop unique solutions.· complete other tasks and activities as required by his supervisor.
