responsibilities
* learn and understand baker hughes' procurement needs across the business and develop a mexican supplier base to support needs (>$500 million). Activities include sourcing supplier chemistry products and building a supplier directory; onboard suppliers in our systems; select and evaluate suppliers to meet global demand, especially in north america and latam.
* prepare rfqs, understand costs, and negotiate prices with suppliers. Understand key technical requirements to identify suitable suppliers and communicate rfqs.
* interact with suppliers to obtain timely quotes, and collaborate with engineering and procurement in u.s. facilities to clarify questions. Apply cost analysis techniques to achieve cost optimization and help baker hughes reduce spend.
* support chemical products primarily, but also non-metals and plastics; understand manufacturing processes (cnc machining, plastic injection, forging, assembly lines) and read drawings/specifications to map rfq packages to suppliers.
* audit suppliers in the quality management system and support the supplier qualification process; evaluate technical, production, and inspection capabilities of suppliers and their products; understand supplier strategic positioning as a supply chain enabler.
* monitor purchases in the u.s. and latam and conduct spend analysis to identify deflation opportunities; manage databases and supplier directories; create presentations of the supplier base available in mexico.
* interact with multiple suppliers in mexico across various levels (owners to general managers, sales, quality, production, and engineering) and with the global procurement team.
qualifications
* currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program related to chemical engineering, industrial engineering or a related field with at least 1.5 years remaining.
* grade point average of 3.7/5.0 or higher (or equivalent in your country).
* advanced level of spoken and written english.
* legal work authorization in the country where you are applying.
* willingness to participate in different activities and projects, take responsibility, and contribute proactively to the team and organization at large.
