senior research and development technician-meat and poultry applications
job objective:
this position will focus on the development and optimization of applications such as sausages, hot dogs, value hams, fresh injection molding, and tumbling systems.
the successful candidate will contribute in-depth industry knowledge, practical skills, and technical creativity, support both research and development projects and providing technical service to our clients in mexico and central america.
requirements:
* academic background: chemical engineering in food science, food engineering, or chemical engineering.
* language: advanced english (spoken and written)
* minimum 8-10 years of experience in the meat and poultry processing industry.
* proven hands-on experience in sausage, ham, injection, and tumbling applications.
* solid knowledge of functional ingredients (binders, phosphates, proteins, hydrocolloids, fibers, etc.) and their interactions.
* experience creating compound blends from individual ingredients.
* strong problem-solving skills and ability to work directly with production teams and clients.
* availability to travel within mexico (up to 70% of the time) and occasionally to central america.
key responsibilities
* work within the research and development team to design and optimize functional ingredient blends for meat and poultry applications.
* conduct application trials on sausages, hot dogs, economy hams, injection systems, and tumbling processes.
* provide hands-on technical support to customers, assisting with product launches, troubleshooting, and optimization.
* blend individual ingredients into functional compounds to meet specific performance and labeling requirements.
* serve as a technical expert for the sales team, demonstrating functionality and performance to customers.
* travel frequently to customer facilities in mexico (and occasionally in central america) to provide application support.
* document, analyze, and report trial results to support ongoing commercial and research and development projects.
