GENERAL SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer for Manufacturing – Second Shift is responsible for ensuring product conformity and process stability on the production floor, guaranteeing compliance with quality standards in real time. Acts as a liaison between production and quality, managing quality incidents, inspection support, containment, product release, and continuous improvement directly on the shop floor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Monitor and verify compliance with quality standards during second shift production.
- Coordinate and execute containment activities in case of quality incidents.
- Support production personnel and operators in interpreting quality criteria, visual standards, and gauging tools.
- Evaluate and approve products for rework or deviation.
- Document and communicate findings to Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams.
- Lead or participate in problem-solving activities (5 Whys, Ishikawa, 8D) focused on floor-level corrections.
- Verify compliance with LPAs, 6S, and critical process conditions (Poka-Yoke, error proofing).
- Ensure effective execution of reaction procedures for non-conforming products.
- Provide technical support to Quality Technicians and Production Supervisors.
- Participate in internal and external audits (IATF, ISO 14001/45001).
- Train new production employees in quality standards.
- Monitor quality KPIs for the shift and generate daily reports.
- All the responsibilities and follow the authority assigned according to the FTM-EHS-12 Roles, Responsibility and Authority Matrix from ISO 14001 /45001
- Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards such as IATF 16949
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE
- Engineering degree / Certified Quality Engineering (CQE) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in production or shop-floor quality.
- Skilled in reading and interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of automotive quality customer requirements.
- Ability to complete PPAP packages to customer requirements.
