job description


prime function:

* to direct and coordinate the activities of the engineering department in ibis pan india.
* this is a pan-india role. The engineering manager will be required to travel and support ibis hotels across different locations in india as per business needs.
* conform and adhere to the policies & procedures and rules & regulations as laid down by the company to achieve the highest levels of guest service.
* to maintain regular inventories of the technical equipment.
* ensure quality is adhered to in all aspects of the job by the engineering team.
* any matter which may affect the interests of accor should be brought to the attention of management.
* to abide by the mission statement of the company and of the department.
* facilitates the functioning of and/or oversees the functioning of housekeeping department or any other department in the hotel when necessary and as mandated by the general manager. This would be over and above regular duties.

key responsibilities:

engineering planning

* identify major facilities and equipment requirements for the department and the property.
* ensure correct maintenance of all equipment in conjunction with other departments and stay updated with technological advances in surveillance & safety of the equipment.

people management

* establish and maintain seamless coordination & cooperation with all departments of ibis mumbai vikhroli to ensure maximum cooperation, productivity, morale, and guest service.
* provide effective support to the team to enable them to deliver efficient services.
* respond to customer queries by resolving issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
* motivate and develop staff to ensure smooth functioning of the department.
* ensure that the team is trained in all safety provisions.

financial management

* ensure optimal, cost-effective use of resources and educate the team on the same.

operational management

* coordinate with purchasing to obtain relevant data, inquiries, and quotations.
* supervise the upkeep of plumbing and electrical systems.
* check and inspect machinery and equipment.
* maintain records and statements of maintenance activities.
* prepare duty rosters.
* ensure preventive and routine maintenance of all equipment.
* upgrade equipment regularly to maintain technological advantage.

managerial qualities

* leadership skills utilizing persuasion and motivation, along with honesty, integrity, ethical behavior, tactfulness, openness, and cultural awareness.
* ability to accept responsibility.
* self-confidence, motivation, drive, and tenacity.
* ability to enhance organizational performance.
* ability to delegate tasks clearly.

* recognition and acknowledgment of others’ ideas.

health & safety responsibilities/duties

* establish and maintain safe working conditions following accor policies.
* ensure all hazards are recorded, reported, and investigated.
* implement policies on harassment and bullying prevention.
* provide necessary protective clothing and training.
* report accidents and incidents promptly and investigate as needed.
* train staff in safety procedures and provide ongoing supervision.
* review and develop health and safety policies annually.

qualifications

* master's/bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
* minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role.
* proficient in english (reading, writing, speaking).
* knowledge of additional languages and local languages is an advantage.
* good knowledge of ms excel, word, & powerpoint.
