The department director is responsible for overall management direction for assigned department.
General responsibilities
- create an annual business plan that provides a unit operational budget that supports the revenue and profitability goals of the company
- directs team and overall business operations in assigned divisions to achieve company goals
- directs and assigns resources, workloads and manage schedules to ensure timely deliverables
- oversees employee recruitment and performance evaluation activities of staff
- drives positive relationships with the staff and customer base
- develops department’s annual budget
- evaluates department performance and develops new strategies for performance improvements
- resolve business issues and ensure that all escalated issues are closed
- develop and enforce best practices to ensure operational efficiency
- identify areas of improvements and concerns and accordingly develop action plans
experience / qualifications
- a university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
- ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
- holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
- strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
- strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
- strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
- proficient in microsoft office programs (outlook, word, powerpoint, and excel)
- strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
