human resources consulting manager – monterrey, mexico

suggested monthly base salary: $70,000 – $90,000 mxn
position objective
lead and execute the human resources strategy for millerknoll's monterrey operations, balancing strategic hr consulting with hands-on operational excellence. This role will build scalable, compliant, and culturally aligned hr processes that support business growth, employee engagement, and leadership development in a unionized manufacturing environment.
key responsibilities
strategic hr consulting & business partnership
• act as a trusted advisor to plant leadership, providing guidance on hr programs, organizational design, and change management.
• partner with executive and operational leaders to align hr strategies with business goals.
• analyze hr metrics and trends to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
talent acquisition & workforce planning
• design and implement workforce plans aligned with production and operational needs.
• develop structured, competency-based recruitment processes and diversify sourcing channels.
• train leaders in objective interviewing to reduce bias and improve hiring outcomes.
payroll, compensation & compliance (mexico-specific)
• oversee payroll processing in compliance with mexican labor law, imss, sat, and infonavit.
• manage external payroll vendors (e.g., deel) while developing in-house payroll expertise.
• implement payroll governance frameworks including reconciliation, audit trails, and variance tracking.
• maintain historical payroll records and ensure transparent compensation processes.
labor relations & legal compliance
• formalize employment contracts for administrative and unionized staff.
• strengthen labor relations by reducing favoritism and retaliation risks.
• ensure compliance with mexican labor regulations and millerknoll's global standards.
• lead investigations and resolve complex employee relations issues with diplomacy and fairness.
culture, engagement & inclusion
• launch engagement surveys, feedback mechanisms, and recognition programs.
• develop and implement anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and d&i policies.
• promote a safe, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.
training, leadership development & performance
• build a competency framework and production skills matrix.
• develop frontline supervisors to lead effectively in unionized environments.
• implement structured performance reviews tied to career growth and promotion decisions.
• coordinate leadership, compliance, and safety training aligned with business needs.
team leadership & development
• recruit, coach, and develop hr team members including payroll, recruitment, and operations staff.
• establish clear goals, accountability frameworks, and development plans.
• foster a culture of service, collaboration, and continuous improvement within hr.
candidate profile
required qualifications
• bachelor's degree in hr, industrial relations, business administration, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive hr experience, including 3+ years in leadership roles.
• intermediate to advanced english proficiency for stakeholder communication.
• proven success in:
• building hr processes in manufacturing environments.
• managing union relations and compliance in mexico.
• designing transparent compensation and payroll governance.
• developing frontline leaders and structured training programs.
preferred qualifications
• experience in multinational or matrixed organizations.
• track record in diversity, inclusion, and anti-harassment initiatives.
• proficiency with hr systems (hris, ats, lms).
• experience supporting operations across multiple locations, including international sites.
