JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Director, Field Marketing oversees all activities executed in the Field Marketing Account Management Team across participating managed and franchised hotels in Caribbean and Latin America. Leads a team of Senior Managers, Account Managers and Coordinators to develop and execute property Brand, Marketing and Digital plans for participating hotels in the Shared Service. A member of the Marketing leadership team, responsible for the business performance, driving key initiatives and ensuring implementation of brand, digital and marketing programs. The position has P&L; responsibility across all the different Field Shared Service cost center units in the different countries. They are accountable for ensuring that all corporate initiatives and strategy are applied as instructed at the regional level, and maintains relationships with team leaders, properties, owners and senior leadership of the Field Marketing Organization and overall CALA Regional Team. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with Franchises in addition to managed hotels, and that franchised properties buy into the marketing programs. They ensure the CALA Field Marketing planning process and Media budget is spent appropriately on behalf of CALA hotels, deadlines are met and expectations are managed. The Senior Director is also accountable for representing the field organization including field at the corporate and regional level.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
4-year Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree in Business or related area preferred
MBA or similar advanced degree a plus
Experience in partnership marketing, hotel sales & marketing, international consumer marketing, and/or field operations/marketing required
8+ years in a marketing leadership position; international marketing experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to balance the interests and demands of multiple stakeholders
Hotel property experience, hotel field marketing experience, or related preferred
International working experience strongly preferred
Fluency of English and Spanish required
- Portuguese a plus.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:
Manages a leadership team overseeing the Marketing Account managers across multiple regions focused on developing marketing strategies for the properties, with special emphasis on Digital Marketing.
Manages CALA Field Centers of Excellences such as Preopening Team
Provides strategic guidance on property-level marketing planning to ensure business targets and key MI/brand strategies are appropriately represented in property marketing plans
Oversees team in customizing marketing plans for the region, with brand specialization where possible
Understands and owns brand storytelling, digital marketing, content marketing, driving engagement and delivering adaptive messages to different audiences.
Educates and advocates on Marketing, Brand and Digital with Owners, General Managers and other property leaders
Develops and implements integrated programs for key market in response to customer needs, market trends, key competitors, brand direction, and stakeholder needs
Partners with the Continent regional teams, Field Marketing, Sales and Revenue Management
Pro-actively monitors markets across the continent to assess competitive position, build on program strengths and bolster current programs
Oversees hiring/promotion decisions of team members
Reviews property plans, marketing output and ensure best practices are followed
Ensures best practice sharing for plans and campaigns across managers
Participates in the development of templates to deliver BMD objectives such as budget guidelines, reporting, owner presentations, and more.
Active leader in the demand generation process for the region, based on input from team and data from revenue management.
Manages relationships with Centers of Excellence, Knowledge Experts and key global teams.
Circulates strategic plans across the Marriott teams to verify quality/best practices are met
Provides guidance, mentorship, and review work of leaders
Collaborates with other discipline leaders in designing new marketing strategies for hotels, such as Distribution, Loyalty, Operations and F&B.;
Manages relationships with Regional Leadership, S/AVPs and Area President as well as multi-property leadership (e.g., owner groups with multiple properties)
Participates in the strategic development and planning of future program structural enhancements, and program offers and promotions - both in CALA and at Marriott International
