Trade compliance specialist
this role focuses on mexican trade regulations, including customs planning, and handling the intricacies of programs like immex and prosec to optimize operational efficiency and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the proper preparation and filing of all necessary documentation for immex program activities, verifying imports and exports under the immex program, supporting day-to-day compliance with immex requirements, continuously evaluating and improving processes and practices to ensure they are efficient, cost-effective, and fully compliant with mexican trade laws, identifying opportunities for optimizing duty savings and other benefits available under the program, accurately classifying products and performing regular reviews of hs classifications to ensure accuracy, maintaining a global parts database, analyzing and verifying product eligibility under the usmca, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure proper understanding and implementation of usmca rules of origin, conducting pedimento audits to verify compliance with all import/export transactions, responding to broker requests and supporting with review of performance against kpis, creating and managing the export paperwork required for shipments, maintaining accurate and organized records of all trade compliance activities and documentation, assisting the trade compliance manager in implementing best practices to drive productivity and streamline opportunities, and working cross-functionally with global and regional teams to carry out trade compliance goals and assignments.
qualifications
* bachelor's degree in supply chain management or logistics is required.
* a minimum of 5 years of experience working with customs procedures, rules of origin, tariffs, and international trade regulations (both mexican and u.s.) is required.
* strong knowledge of hts classification and general rules of interpretation (gri) is required.
