the mro buyer will be responsible for the evaluation of suppliers & bids; negotiate pricing and terms & conditions for the purchase of goods and services. This position will support multiple sites with a focus on identifying best value suppliers (equipment and services) for the bidding process. This position will manage moderately complex aspects of a project. The work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. This position will have a strong focus on internal customer service.
*function and responsibilities.*
- analyze technical data and specifications to determine the equipment and contracted services needed for site related projects
- conduct searches for new suppliers of goods and services, evaluate their capabilities, assess risk and qualify as necessary
- evaluate equipment suppliers and negotiate purchasing agreements for equipment
- identifies cost savings opportunities and assists in achieving yearly cost reduction targets set by the sr capex & purchasing manager
- negotiate prices and draft terms and conditions of purchase
- reviews requests for assigned materials, parts and/or services and verifies specifications with requester as necessary
- attend domestic and international trade shows to view and collaborate with senior management on new product listings and pulse of the industry
- devise, implement and oversee procurement strategies to meet cost savings targets
- administer supplier and vendor contracts
- ensure that purchases comply with commercial, legal and contractual obligations
- communicate with stakeholders regarding the nature and function of purchased equipment
- liason between logistics and finance to ensure end to end follow up of purchase, delivery and payment
- develop process of oem selection and standardization

- bs degree in business or engineering and 5 years of mro experience; 5 years contractor and services purchasing experience.
- bilingual in english and spanish with high-level verbal and written communication skills
- proficiency in microsoft word, excel, and powerpoint; and erp systems such as sap, jd edwards, eam etc.
- ablity to analyze technical documents and specifications and understand critical requirements
- experience in food / confeccionary manufacturing preferred
- supply chain certification (cscp, cpim, cfpim) preferred
- international purchasing experience is a plus
