the hses tech provides solutions to problems in conjunction with hse advisors / supervisors and will evaluate and select solutions from established hses management systems.
responsibilities
key tasks and responsibilities:
* conversant with local and international hses laws, codes, and regulations
* serve as a resource to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for incidents
* provide technical assistance to ensure compliance with applicable international, federal, state, and company environmental, safety, and health regulations
* implement the hses activity plan and ensure activities are completed as scheduled
* assist with incident investigations and compilation of reports
* assist with medical evacuations and respond to emergencies as required
* regularly inspect the work areas to identify unsafe acts or conditions
* conduct compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety, and health standards of the company and all applicable codes are followed
* observe work groups and provide guidance and coaching to personnel to perform work safely
* assist in the delivery and observation of toolbox talks and job safety analyses (jsa’s)
* observe the condition of plant and equipment and report deficiencies
qualifications
essential qualifications and education:
* diploma or equivalent certification
* 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
* maintain key competencies associated with the hses function
* have experience with technical activities, including on and offshore operations
* proficient in microsoft office
* good oral and written communication skills
* exposure to incident investigation and analysis software preferred
* ability to work independently with minimal guidance
* ability to apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations
* ability to use best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline
* proven experience promoting teamwork, coaching, and guiding others
