responsibilities
* provide a full range of legal advice and services across corporate, environmental, compliance, labor, incident management, regulatory, litigation (criminal and civil) and other legal disciplines.
* participate as a full member of the mexico leadership team ("mlt") to influence overall business unit strategy and advise the mlt on all legal issues including government regulations and legal requirements for doing business in mexico.
* report into the mexico business unit president and the svp legal for kdp corporate.
* lead local incident management team and work closely with corporate compliance on speaking up complaints, code of conduct, policies, fcpa certification and related matters.
* establish and execute a legal unit strategy, managing the legal team, resources, and budgets to support business initiatives and objectives, aligning with kdp's legal report strategy.
* create innovative solutions to identify business opportunities and challenges in regulatory and legislative issues, driving success in the legal team and overall business goals.
* provide legal advice and services on the rights, obligations, and privileges of the organization.
* support marketing & new product development functions on innovation & intellectual property activities, advertising campaigns, cofepris registrations, trademarks, and trade activities to achieve company objectives.
* manage key associations and legal networks to advise business of potential risks.
* represent the organization to customers, suppliers, competitors and government agencies.
* examine legal data to determine the advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits.
* achieve corporate responsibility commitments, integrating sustainability agenda and leading esg (environmental, social and governance) practices into the business.
* monitor legislative and economic activity that affects the sector in which the company operates.
* participate in forums and discussions on issues that affect or may affect business development.
qualifications
* bachelor's degree in law; mba preferred.
* 15+ years of broad-based legal leadership experience in food or beverage corporations or legal firms.
* ability to plan and manage the legal team and mlt, working closely with all functions while balancing short‑term and long‑term objectives.
* ability to analyze legal, legislative, regulatory, corporate, and business information and improve customer relationships to positively impact growth.
* proven flexibility and responsiveness to business priorities and requirements.
* success delivering exceptional legal results in a fast‑paced, collaborative business environment.
* experience building and sustaining high‑performance legal organizations.
* solid understanding of the mexican legal environment and regulations.
