key job responsibilities
* support the design systems & engineering team focused on user‑interface development, prototyping, and tooling to deliver high‑quality user‑interfaces and user‑experiences for the amazon music app.
* be adept at both application architecture and reusable component frameworks, understanding intricacies of component design, and creating and maintaining mechanisms to deliver high quality code – including libraries, motion frameworks, and prototyping design explorations.
* collaborate with cross‑functional team of ux designers, motion designers, and other engineers to collaborate on feature designs, create prototypes, implement dynamic app animations, and contribute to the component library for our design system.
* communicate technical feasibility and alternative solutions when roadblocks are discovered.
* help extend design explorations and drive high‑quality ux across our app experience.
* partner with engineering org to test, deploy, and maintain our react native component library.
* write high‑quality, clean, efficient, performant, and well‑documented code to create reusable and modular components.
* document front‑end engineering best practices for other cross‑functional team members.
* participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
* provide thorough unit and integration testing, and support products while deployed and used by our customers.
* balance constraints, limiting short‑term workarounds while focusing on future extensions.
* drive consensus between design, engineering and product owners.

about the team
the design systems & engineering team is embedded within the product design team, delivering high quality cx to our customers. The team builds our design system ui library and distributes prototypes used for innovation and user‑testing. We set the standard for the process, earning trust with all partners, biasing for action when working within tight parameters, and using sound judgment to make decisions in areas of ambiguity or uncharted territories. We partner with our engineering counterparts on the experience teams to enable bar‑raising design for our apps.
basic qualifications
* 2+ years of non‑internship professional front‑end, web or mobile software development using javascript, html and css.
* knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
* computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, complexity analysis, object‑oriented design, and design patterns.
preferred qualifications
* experience building performant cross‑platform mobile applications using react native and graphql.
* working knowledge of ios, android, macos, windows, linux and web platforms.
