A well-established u.s.-based manufacturing company is seeking an experienced general manager to lead operations at its heavy industrial manufacturing facility in monterrey, mexico. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a proven manufacturing executive who can drive operational excellence, build strong teams, and serve as a key link between the mexico operation and u.s.-based leadership.
the successful candidate will be a hands-on operations leader with a strong heavy industrial manufacturing background, experience working within u.s.-based organizations, and the ability to communicate effectively in both english and spanish.
position summary:
the general manager will have full responsibility for the performance of the monterrey operation, including safety, production, quality, delivery, financial performance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives. This individual will develop and execute operational strategies that support business growth while maintaining world-class manufacturing standards.
the role reports directly to executive leadership in the united states and will play a critical role in aligning plant operations with overall company objectives.
key responsibilities:
* provide overall leadership and direction for all plant operations.
* drive a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* develop and execute strategic operating plans to achieve production, cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
* lead, coach, and develop plant leadership teams across operations, engineering, quality, supply chain, maintenance, and administration.
* partner closely with u.s.-based leadership to ensure alignment on business priorities and performance expectations.
* manage plant financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and capital investments.
* establish and monitor key performance indicators (kpis) to drive operational excellence.
* lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing, six sigma, or similar methodologies.
* ensure compliance with all applicable labor, environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
* foster positive employee relations and maintain a highly engaged workforce.
* support customer satisfaction efforts through operational reliability and strong quality systems.
qualifications:
* bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, operations management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
* 10+ years of progressive heavy industrial manufacturing leadership experience.
* prior experience serving as a plant manager, general manager, operations director, or similar senior manufacturing leader.
* experience working for a u.s.-based manufacturing organization is required. Experience working in the united states is strongly preferred.
* strong understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chain, quality systems, and financial management.
* demonstrated success leading large teams in a manufacturing environment.
* experience implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
* strong business acumen and ability to drive operational and financial performance.
* conversational to fluent english required; ability to communicate effectively with u.s.-based leadership teams.
* spanish fluency required.
* experience working in mexico within a multinational manufacturing environment preferred.
